Working on ‘Good Fortune Tarot’, and my love for the magical cards
Last modified: 12th June 2024
I have a big place in my heart for Tarot cards, so when one of my best friends Charlotte asked me to work on an interactive Tarot site for her latest Kickstarter project I was obviously going to say yes!
The first edition
In 2020 the very talented Charlotte Simonsen (graphic designer & content creator extraodinare) designed and released a limited edition tarot deck called The Gold Star.
It reached it’s Kickstarter goal within 24 hours, and exceeded it by quite a lot! I have one of these decks displayed proudly on my shelf and use it regularly.
As of June 2024 Charlotte has now released the deck in a beautiful, bright white! The project is now on Kickstarter ready for you to get involved!
New Kickstarter & the interactive Tarot
Part of the Kickstarter campaign was to create an interactive Tarot site. You ask the deck a question, draw a card from the deck and let it read your fortune! Give a try yourself at tarot.witchin.co.uk
The majority of development was done by the talented Ryan Thickett, and I was brought on board to assist with the HTML & CSS, add any accessibility features, improve performance & usability, fully test the code, and provide hosting.
It’s been a pleasure working with Jo on my interactive page! She helped make my idea come to life and it’s exactly how I wanted it. There were no limitations to Jo’s suggestions on how to improve it, and if any problems arose, they were resolved as soon as possible. I would definitely recommend Jo to future clients and look forward to working with her again.

About Tarot cards
My love for Tarot cards goes back as far as I can remember as a child, it was something I did a lot with my mum. We loved doing readings together and I was always fascinated by the results, and still am today. In fact, I still have the book my mum used to use for Tarot – a book published in 1973!
For anyone not familiar with what they are or how they work, Tarot cards are a type of divination tool used to gain insight, guidance, and clarity on various life questions and situations. They consist of a deck of 78 cards, each with its own imagery, symbolism, and story. Tarot has a rich history and is often used for self-reflection, spiritual growth, and understanding life’s challenges.
This project has been a great way to combine centuries old fortune telling device with modern technology – taking something quite mystical and making it easily accessible for anyone who would like to try it out and experience a quick reading!
Anyway, enough about me, head on over to the website and give it a go yourself!
