15 years of running Portsmouth Freelancers Meet (and counting)
Last modified: 11th August 2025
Back in 2010, I put a tweet out into the world, hoping someone might show up to meet me at The Wine Vaults in Portsmouth. Four people turned up, and 15 years (and over 145 meetups later), we’re still going strong. We’ve met every month for a decade and a half for casual chats, many beers, seasonal parties and one of nights such as board games or retro video games and I’ve loved every minute of it. PFMeet has become a place where ideas, friendships and projects have been born, and it has been the place where I’ve gained amazing an amazing support network of local creatives, business owners and networkers.
I’ve gathered stories from long-time regulars, looked back at old branding, parties, venues and stats (14 Christmas parties, 10 Summer parties, 10+ venues). And I’m sharing my plans for how PFMeet is evolving – from new formats to micro-themes and even icebreaker card decks in the works.
